UNIQLO releases AIRism absorbent underwear for adolescent girls

Last week, UNIQLO Japan released an absorbent underwear for kids, Girls AIRism Absorbent Shorts. AIRism is UNIQLO’s popular fabric that utilizes the brand’s original technology for instant liquid absorption and smoothness to the skin. It is also antibacterial and deodorizing. Designed with AIRism fabric, these shorts breathe well and help keep the skin dry. Additionally, three layers of fabric offer full protection from the crotch to the waist, preventing leaks and odor from menstrual bleeding.

How period underwear helps young girls

Young girls who recently experienced their first menstruation usually are not accustomed to using pads or tampons and are afraid of accidents, which could stain their underwear and lower garments. Absorbent underwear can protect girls from stains and emotional stress. They will also be free from carrying around pads all day. Moreover, wearing absorbent underwear will reduce the use of sanitary items, resulting in less impact on the environment.

Girls AIRism Absorbent Shorts were designed in response to a survey aimed at women who already used UNIQLO’s AIRism Sanitary Shorts, which received high customer reviews. Of the respondents who had daughters in middle and high schools, 90% indicated that they would recommend the item to their daughters.

Other femtech products for young girls

To address young girls and their parents’ challenges and worries around growing bodies, UNIQLO already offers particular undershirts and a bra in their kids line. This collection comes in three types, Girls AIRism Cotton Blend Chest Two-layer Camisole, Girls AIRism Cotton Blend Bra Top and Girls AIRism First Bra. Therefore, customers can choose items according to the child’s development. These undergarments protect and gently support growing, sensitive breasts at each development point.

The brand aims to support young girls who cope with their “first times” by offering femtech products. Physical and emotional development for adolescents, including menstruation and breast growth, isn’t always easy to deal with for themselves and their parents. Products catered specifically for these customers can help ease the troubles they face in day-to-day activities and offer them more comfort during challenging but essential times in life.
