Available lecture topics

Here are some examples of the topics Zenbird will be able to speak about.

1) Lecture on SDGs in Japan

What are the latest developments in Japan? What is the awareness on the SDGs in Japan like? What are the latest trends in Japan related to sustainability?

In this lecture, we will cover the SDGs trends in Japan in two parts. First, we set the groundwork in understanding the background of the Japanese society, for example, how culture would differ from the rest of the world, and what kind of policies have influenced awareness. In the second half, we will go into the trends, including what has worked, what the Japanese care about the most currently, and what areas can be improved.

The lecture will be adjusted to match listeners/viewers’ levels and needs, for example, explaining jargon or avoiding using them. We will also conduct a meeting before the actual lecture to ensure the materials are suitable and customized.

2) Lecture on Circular Economy

In this climate crisis, changing all energy to renewables will only solve half of our problems. Turns out, the other half will not be curbed until we address how we take from nature, mindlessly manufacturer products, and discard them without care.

In this lecture, we will explain the problem that is hurting our environment: the Linear Economy of take-make-waste. We will demonstrate its destructiveness in the modern world. We will also present how a Circular Economy is the new model to change the world, and share how it can be a large player in halting our climate crisis.

The lecture will be adjusted to match listeners/viewers’ levels and needs, for example, explaining jargon or avoiding using them. We will also conduct a meeting before the actual lecture to ensure the materials are suitable and customized.

3) Lecture on Circular Edonomy (not be confused with economy)

Japan was not only sustainable 1000 years ago, but also had a working circular economy! How can an ancient civilization find sustainability even though it did not have the advanced technology and scientific knowledge that we have today?

This exciting lecture will be in two parts. In the first, we will take a history trip back to the Edo Period, when the Circular Economy was perfected (therefore, Circular “EDOnomy”). We will study their culture and philosophy, which we will bring to the second part on the lecture, and see how these can be applied to today’s economy. We’ll even see sustainable brands using the ancient wisdom today!

The lecture will be adjusted to match listeners/viewers’ levels and needs, for example, explaining jargon or avoiding using them. We will also conduct a meeting before the actual lecture to ensure the materials are suitable and customized.

4) Lecture in Sustainability and English

English might not be your first language. But it is increasingly important to share common words and phrases, not only to discover new solutions, but also to solve the world’s problem together across borders.

There will be two parts to this lecture. In the first half, we will go through terms that are often used when talking about sustainability and social good. We will discover keywords and uncover what they mean in the context of making a better world. In the second part, we will make it a discussion using the words and phrases. To be invested in the words is to find what those words and phrase mean to you, so you will have the confidence to use them and tackle problems.

The lecture will be adjusted to match listeners/viewers’ levels and needs, for example, explaining jargon or avoiding using them. A meeting before the lecture is a must, as the contents need to be synchronized will the topics listeners/viewers are interested in.

5) Customized lecture

You can request a customized lecture, especially if your group has already touched the basics, and would like to go further in specialized topics. These topics can include sustainable fashion, circular economy strategies, or even climate action individuals can take to solve the climate crisis.

Zenbird will put together the problems and reasons behind your chosen topic to share with the audience, and use Japan to offer examples and solutions that the audience can refer to and find examples in their own communities.
