Discovering a Sustainable Future from Japan

New media Life Hugger set to boost sustainable living in Japan

Life Hugger, a new media promoting sustainable living in Japan, launched at the beginning of this month. Its goal is to help consumers lead richer and more sustainable lives through sharing information on sustainable products and services.

Life Hugger is a website connecting consumers interested in a sustainable lifestyle with companies, organizations, and individuals engaged in environmentally friendly services, product development, and initiatives. Its catchphrase is “Stopping for a moment today in this once-only life and hugging it.”

Life Hugger was revamped from Kajifull, a predecessor introducing ideas for housework to make everyday life richer and more comfortable. It included introducing and comparing housework agency services, too. But with the recent awareness for the need for sustainability and the desire to make better choices for society and the environment, it is shifting to share sustainable ideas with its readers.

What will Life Hugger offer? It will introduce ideas and information on useful products for practicing zero-waste living. Life Hugger will also disseminate helpful information on products and services related to sustainable living, including their reviews. It intends to interview specialists in areas such as ethical consumption and food loss reduction to share their ideas on sustainable living.

To help readers make everyday fun and comfortable and make better choices for people, society and nature, Life Hugger will share themes such as zero waste, plastic-free, ethical consumption, food loss reduction, sustainable fashion, fair trade, life without throwing away, and regional circulation.

Life Hugger joins its sister media in the sustainability field, including IDEAS FOR GOOD (which introduces creative ideas from around the world that lead to the solution of social issues), Zenbird Media (which disseminates Japan’s sustainability to the world) and Circular Economy Hub (which supports companies and local governments who want to promote the circular economy).
