Hyuga City partners with S-pool to progress Zero Carbon City

Corporation announced a groundbreaking comprehensive partnership agreement with Hyuga City to propel the city’s transformation into a zero-carbon urban center. The collaboration also aims to foster sustainable development by tapping into the city’s local resources.

S-pool Corporation leverages the technical know-how of its subsidiary, Blue Dot Green Inc., which specializes in calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and disclosing environmental information for businesses.

Hyuga City, known for its rich water resources and natural environment, set ambitious goals earlier this year to achieve a “Zero Carbon City” status by 2050. As part of its strategy, the city has committed to increasing the adoption of renewable energy sources and educating the public on sustainability.

This alliance is the eighth of its kind nationwide for S-pool Corporation and the seventh within Miyazaki Prefecture. The company aims to collaborate with more than 20 local governments by March 2024, with a strategic focus on long-term support for their sustainability initiatives.

The partnership will involve a range of activities, including calculating CO₂ emissions and formulating plans for their reduction. “This collaboration aims to engage both local residents and businesses in environmental activities and conservation efforts,” said a representative from S-pool Corporation.
