Discovering a Sustainable Future from Japan

2foods’ Food Tech Park to educate on latest alternative foods

Last Thursday saw the opening of 2foods’ third cafe at Shibuya Loft, with a space dedicated to food tech. Called “Food Tech Park,” the space is an exhibition of the latest food tech and food alternatives from Japan and the world.

2foods is known for its plant-based menu. Its interior design reflects its mission: to reinvent the image of modern veganism as stylish. Why shouldn’t plant-based food be chic and tasty at the same time?

And that is one of the goals of 2foods. While the menu is unique (which you definitely must try out if you are in the area), 2foods wants to educate customers about the trendiest alternative food available.

With the heightening awareness for the environment among Japanese youths, 2foods is offering a space to learn about the latest in food tech. Situated in youth-centered Shibuya and located in Loft, the Food Tech Park is an approachable area that welcomes all to visit.

Beside each product is an electronic tablet, which displays product information like product description, features and ingredients. Some also include a promotional video that shows the behind-the-scenes of how the products are made.

Some Japanese brands include the brands MAAHA Chocolate, 2foods’ own Gauteau chocolat, and Next Meats, which we have shared before. Two non-Japanese brands were also displayed, Daiya and OmniMeat. They originate from Canada and Hong Kong, respectively.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the products, you can scan a QR code to access their online store.

2foods is committed to this educational space and intends to keep it as a permanent cafe section. “We intend to rotate the products and brands every month,” shared the staff, “so customers will continue to learn about the newest food tech.”

And we look forward to future exhibitions from Food Tech Park too. Indeed, why shouldn’t yummy be truly healthy too?

Their opening comes amid the pandemic, but no worries if you fancy a taste. They are offering takeouts, and will soon be on the major delivery services.
