ReBit
Aiming for a society where all children, including LGBTQ, can grow up as they are, ReBit conducts school visits and curriculum development. The group teaches not only students, but also faculty and staff at elementary, junior high and high schools, boards of education, and local governments.
The lessons ReBit teaches during visits to schools vary from about 60 minutes to 120 minutes, and the number of students varies from one class to several hundred people.
The classes aim to have participants “experience diversity from the perspective of LGBT,” and for school faculty and staff to “realize that some of their students are LGBT and to become LGBT-friendly adults.”
In terms of curriculum development, ReBit sells teaching materials that are developed to deepen understanding of LGBT.

FRENS is based in Fukuoka, where it runs regular local activities to support LGBT youth, their families and acquaintances.
It also provides telephone consultation. Callers can talk about their feelings, including problems like, “It’s hard to talk to friends and family about my crush,” “I don’t like wearing school uniforms,” and “I want to tell someone my true feelings.” FRENS promises to keep the discussions secret, and it accepts anonymous calls so that callers do not have to share their name or address.
