In fact, such campaigns affect a variety of social issues outside the waste issues.

Mottainai is an ancient Japanese term which describes a respect for the resources around you. It is most commonly associated with the traditional three Rs- reduce, reuse, and recycle. Nobel Prize winner, Professor Maathai from Kenya first initiated the Mottainai Campaign. It spread the concept of creating sustainable recycling societies around the world. To this day, the influence continues to educate and positively affect government policies around the world.
