Established in 1935, Kume is one of Japan’s oldest T-shirt companies and is motivated to provide comfortable, long-lasting products while being environmentally conscious. Kume takes pride in Japanese craftsmanship, and all of its manufacturing processes. The selection of materials, cutting and sewing, are done in its domestic factories.
Moreover, as a regular member of the NPO Japan Organic Cotton Association, Kume uses eco-friendly organic cotton in a range of products such as T-shirts, hoodies and cardigans. Most of these are made from circular knitted fabrics, which have no side seams. This is to not only enhance the comfortable feel but also to reduce fabric waste during the cutting process. T-shirts are printed with water-based ink instead of the oil-based variety, which further helps reduce the environmental impacts during production.
