WALL SHARE Inc. is a local Japanese company determined to color the world with art, one blank wall at a time. Supported by crowdfunding platform FUNDINNO, WALL SHARE is a provider of a service based on a new business model of utilizing blank walls for advertisement in Japan.
Unlike traditional above-the-line methods of marketing, WALL SHARE is based on the system of sharing economy, and their interaction goes beyond business and consumer. Wall art advertising is a win-win partnership between artists, wall owners, businesses, and the community.
The transformation of blank walls into a medium for advertising opens up opportunities for over 100 up-and-coming artists to develop, promote and advance their careers. It also serves as an alternative source of passive income for wall owners.
Wall art advertising is a profitable and affordable choice of outdoor advertising for businesses too. The rent of blank walls is low and is expected to bring in a gross profit margin of up to 65 percent. Furthermore, the growth in wall arts adds value to the environment, properties, and Japan’s art and culture.
This March, an activation project was carried out by WALL SHARE to support the community in Shibuya ward, Tokyo. Titled CHILL ART, the concept of this project is similar to wall art advertising. However, instead of using blank walls, store shutters were used as a platform for advertisement.
This idea was proposed in response to the pandemic that affected many business and property owners in the food and beverage industry. Restaurants had to close early or shut down their business altogether. This meant that store shutters were down for extended periods, and that was a resource that could be tapped on to support the business. CHILL ART became a source of income for them during these unprecedented times.
Moving forward, WALL SHARE Inc. hopes to bring art closer to people and build a society with a heightened appreciation and support for art and artists. They strive to transform blank walls into an established method for advertising and create an innovative advertising model that supports artists, wall owners, and businesses, all at the same time.
