Komham Inc. is bringing the power of composting to a wider audience by launching a rental service for its innovative Smart Compost® system. This new service aims to make composting accessible to a variety of events, from community gatherings to large-scale festivals, promoting a more sustainable approach to waste management.
Smart Compost® is a solar-powered composting system designed to handle up to 10 liters of organic waste per day without any external power consumption. Built to last for 8 years, this eco-friendly device tracks key data metrics including the amount of food waste processed, decomposition rates, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and battery levels, ensuring efficient waste management.
The composting system has already been promoting sustainability through effective waste management at various events. At the Kawabon! Festival along Tamagawa Riverside in Kawasaki City, Smart Compost® supported a “Zero Waste Challenge” by converting food scraps into compost, which was then used in local farms and community flowerbeds, completing a circular resource model for Kawasaki City.
Similarly, during the Corona Sunsets Festival, attended by 20,000 people, Smart Compost® helped manage food waste, with the compost delivered to local lime orchards that provide ingredients for Corona Festival beer.
Komham is seizing the opportunity to expand access with growing interest from customers looking to use this solution at environmentally-conscious events.
