DATAFLUCT Inc. in Japan has entered into a partnership with Doconomy from Sweden to develop solutions for businesses and their customers to visualize their environmental impact when they use make purchases.
The partnership will create a new green fintech business by leveraging both knowledge and technology from both companies. By linking it to consumption activities, they will be able to reflect the effects of carbon dioxide emissions and water consumption from users’ payment data, for example, when customers pay with credit cards. Currently, there is no similar service in Japan, which is an untapped opportunity for change.
The companies expect that with the recent increase in environmental awareness, consumers will want to know their impact on the environment on an individual level. Their new service will help consumers visualize their carbon footprint, and show them where they can adjust their consumption habits, or even decide how much carbon to offset.
Furthermore, Japan is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. The companies hope to bring about a Green Transformation in the country with local businesses interested in achieving their own zero carbon goals too.
DATAFLUCT plans to apply their knowledge in data utilization to Doconomy’s algorithm, which in combination provides the data visualization required. This capability will be provided to businesses that deal with payment data, including credit cards, receipts-based systems and point systems. The businesses can then deploy and customize it for their customers.
DATAFLUCT is already in discussion with potential companies to provide their new service.
