A wedding dress brand in Japan, MIRROR MIRROR, announced the start of renting upcycled wedding dresses. These upcycled dresses are reconstructed by combining parts of wedding dresses that were to be discarded. The brand is known for its delicate dress designs and the focus on the bride’s individuality.
After dismantling the dresses to be discarded at the end of the rental period, they sorted out fabrics, lace, beads and other parts in good condition and reconstructed them into new dresses. MIRROR MIRROR, which handles dresses made of delicate, high-quality materials, discards dresses that have been worn more than a certain number of times in order to maintain the quality of rental products.
This practice has been an issue for many years in terms of environmental friendliness. In order to solve this issue, MIRROR MIRROR started this initiative. Nine upcycled dresses were produced in this project.
From A-line to classic and modern, each dress design is unique and no two are alike. Dress users can embody sustainability and express their individuality through well-designed dresses at the same time. Renting an upcycled dress may be a unique and inspiring option if you plan to contribute to sustainability on your special day.
MIRROR MIRROR has four shops, Omotesando, Yokohama, Marunouchi and Chiba.
