Are you interested in immersing yourself in nature’s delights this summer? Beyond leisurely moments amidst nature, many people today desire a more profound natural encounter.
The corporation, REED, based in Kamiyama City, Yamagata Prefecture, introduces the “Kahoku Italian Vegetable Harvest Experience Plan,” an accommodation package at the experiential glamping facility “yamagata glam.” This plan allows guests to savor Yamagata’s natural beauty while engaging in activities like harvesting and relishing locally-grown Italian vegetables, presenting an instance of green tourism.
Kahoku Italian vegetables of Yamagata Prefecture

Kahoku Town, situated in the central part of Yamagata Prefecture, thrives in cultivating Italian vegetables. At the heart of this endeavor is the “Kahoku Italian Vegetable Research Society,” composed of two farming households and sixteen members, engaging collectively in cultivating Italian vegetables as a town-wide project.
In comparison to their native Italy, Kahoku Town faces more severe cold, and the vegetables endure the snow-covered winters, turning into natural refrigerators. This results in an increase in sweetness due to sugar concentration. The fine-textured and sweet Italian vegetables from Kahoku are held in high regard, rivaling those produced in Italy.
Harvesting Kahoku Italian vegetables through glamping
This collaborative accommodation plan stems from the partnership between “Kahoku Life,” a regional trading company striving for the town’s sustainable development and “yamagata glam.” The shared aspirations of Kahoku’s Italian vegetable producers and yamagata glam to deliver Yamagata-grown specialties to consumers paved the way for this collaboration.
Guests can harvest Kahoku’s renowned Italian vegetables and relish their seasonal deliciousness through a grand glamping dinner experience.
Indulging in glamping within private spaces

The lodging, yamagata glam, is a private glamping facility with eight rooms located in Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture. Situated right beside the Mogami River, it offers an optimal setting for experiencing the cultural facets of Yamagata’s countryside and rural life. The concept is accentuated through diverse seasonal activities such as Mogami River boat rides and meals incorporating Yamagata’s local produce.
Savor the fresh vegetables you harvested!

The accommodation plan includes an experience of harvesting two eggplants of choice and a gift of freshly picked tomatoes and lettuce. After the harvest experience, guests can take the vegetables back to yamagata glam and enjoy a special dinner menu featuring Italian vegetables prepared with methods that enhance their natural flavors. Juicy eggplants, sweet Cindy Sweet tomatoes and crisp lettuce form a luxurious ensemble of three Italian vegetable varieties.
Exquisite dinner showcasing seasonal Italian vegetables

The dinner for this plan features the following special menu:
-Italian-style pizza with eggplant and tomato
-BBQ set (Yamagata beef, bone-in sausage, scallop grill, grilled vegetables, freshly-picked vegetables)
-Yamagata Nanman miso mayonnaise, perfect for summer Italian vegetables
-Ajillo (Ahi garlic)
