Gateway to Sustainability in Japan

CRAFSTO and digglue begin Digital Product Passport test for retail

Apparel brand CRAFSTO has partnered with digglue to launch a pilot project featuring the digital product passport tool, “CiReta!”. This collaboration aims to enhance sustainability messaging and boost customer engagement, particularly with international visitors at its flagship Omotesando-Harajuku store.

CiReta! is a web application designed to make product information, including environmental impact and traceability, accessible and engaging. By scanning NFC tags or QR codes, customers can instantly access key product details through their smartphones. This tool also allows store staff to effectively communicate sustainability information to non-Japanese speakers, helping overcome language barriers while promoting transparency.

The CiReta! tool integrates Digital Product Passport (DPP) information, providing up-to-date data about the product’s sustainability metrics, lifecycle, and traceability. The pilot is expected to run for several months, comparing the sales outcomes and customer interactions between those who receive information via CiReta! and those who do not.

Results will help assess how digital storytelling and environmental transparency can influence consumer behavior in the fashion industry.
