Clean Energy Connect reported a significant milestone of achieving a total of 700 Non-FIT solar power plants across Japan.
Clean Energy Connect, through its decarbonization initiatives, has its operations firmly grounded in the non-FIT system (Feed-In Tariffs). The company strategically develops and manages small-scale low-voltage solar power plants, thus stepping away from traditional FIT systems.
The organization is dedicated to delivering renewable energy by leveraging services like off-site corporate Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). This method enables a swift response to the decarbonization goals of their corporate clients, many of whom are signatories to the RE100 initiative — a global corporate leadership initiative committed to 100% renewable electricity.
With a wide-reaching presence, the company’s 700 Non-FIT solar power plants are tactically distributed across 161 cities and towns spanning 20 prefectures. This widespread dispersion has dual benefits — it mitigates the risk of weather-related disruptions to power generation and also hedges against disaster-related outages.
The power plants collectively contribute to the production of green electricity and provide an environmental value. These contributions are directed to corporate clients, significantly supporting their RE100 and decarbonization commitments. Clean Energy Connect estimates that their efforts will result in an annual CO2 reduction of approximately 28,177 metric tons.
Clean Energy Connect prides itself on delivering a comprehensive suite of green energy solutions. This spans from the planning and implementation of green energy introduction plans to post-implementation effects verification and ultimate achievement of decarbonization goals.
The client roster of Clean Energy Connect includes industry heavyweights such as Amazon, Dai-ichi Life Insurance, Shimizu Corporation, and the NTT Group. Looking ahead, the company plans to incorporate energy storage, wind power, and Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) into their solar power generation operations. This initiative is poised to increase renewable energy usage around the clock, further enhancing Clean Energy Connect’s ability to facilitate its clients in meeting their decarbonization goals and playing a pivotal role in addressing climate change.
