The pet toy industry has become keen to design products catered to the increasingly diverse lifestyles of pet owners in recent years. Some people also look for sustainable pet items. A Japanese cat play equipment brand, neuneko, released a cat tower made from recycled paper called “neuneko BOX” this month.
Neuneko aims to design sustainable goods for cat lovers
Neuneko BOXes connect with each other by original cat-shaped adjusters so that the owners can customize them according to the living space. The simple steps to assemble them are helpful for the builder. The boxes are designed with recycled cardboard paper, therefore, they are lightweight but sturdy.
The boxes are recyclable, so they are a good option for pet owners trying to reduce their waste to the landfill. However, they are coated with polypropylene for water-proofing, which could be something to consider from an environmental perspective. Some can argue that the water-proof finish can help prolong the life of the product, thereby reducing consumption.
For owners caring for their cats’ wellbeing
Research shows that owning pets has positive effects such as stress relief and other health benefits for people. At the same time, it is also essential to provide a safe and nurturing environment for pets.
Many have spent more time at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Japan Pet Food Association reports the number of pets have increased since 2019, and suggests people find engaging with pets therapeutic. On the other hand, neuneko’s survey indicates that 92.8% of owners are concerned about their cats’ stress level. The brand aims to reduce cats’ stress levels at home by offering fun through pet products to maintain their well-being.
By monozukuri manufacturing, neuneko strives to enrich everyday living where owners and cats embrace joy together. The brand is operated by Kpak Inc., and the neuneko BOX was designed with Peiku Co.,Ltd. Neuneko BOX is available on Japanese EC sites.
