What is SDGs Goal 17?

SDGs Goal 17 is “Partnerships for the Goals” with its mission statement being “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.”

The goal has 19 targets and 24 indicators measuring global cooperation to advance sustainable development. These targets include encouraging developed countries’ commitment to development assistance, mobilizing additional financial resources for developing countries, promoting environmentally sound technologies to developing countries on favorable terms, and enhancing global macroeconomic stability.

Partnerships for the Goals in Japan

Seeing partnerships as a way to create new business values and models, partnerships in Japan is growing to incorporate SDGs into their activities for social and environmental good. It is particularly active among Small & Medium-sized Enterprises because of their flexibility in taking action.

Regional Revitalization SDGs Public-Private Partnership Platform

The Cabinet Office established the Regional Revitalization SDGs Public-Private Partnership Platform as a platform to deepen partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders from both public and private sectors. The ultimate goal is to promote partnerships for local implementation of SDGs and accelerate regional revitalization.
