Fermenstation Co., Ltd., a startup dedicated to regenerating unused resources through advanced fermentation technology, has teamed up with Aohata Corporation to create “Aohata Jam-Based Sanitising Wet Wipes.” These wipes use ethanol refined from surplus jam, aligning with Fermenstation’s goal of promoting sustainability and a circular economy.

Fermenstation produces ethanol and sustainable cosmetic ingredients from food waste, biomass, and other unused materials. By transforming manufacturing by-products into high-value goods, the company pushes for innovative ways to reduce waste. Past partnerships include projects with Asahi Group, JR East Group, ANA Group, and others, where by-products like apple pomace, non-commercial bananas, leftover rice, and defective candy were turned into aromatic products and sanitising wipes.
This collaboration with Aohata has led to the creation of wet wipes infused with upcycled ethanol from jam by-products. Using its fermentation and distillation expertise, Fermenstation has delivered a resource-efficient, eco-friendly product.
Looking ahead, Fermenstation plans to broaden its partnerships to further repurpose unused resources. It continues to seeks to work with companies that generate such resources, like food and beverage manufacturers, and those capable of developing upcycled products, such as cosmetic and lifestyle goods makers.
