Japan produces over 6 million tonnes of food waste each year, a portion of which is vegetable produce. More often than not, “ugly” vegetables are discarded for their imperfect appearances, ending up as a significant contributor to food waste.
In response to that, Robot Communications Inc. and Kyushu Vegepowder have come together to come up with a clever way to deal with food waste. They developed and released a new brand – Amazing Farmer, a company that utilizes modern technology and innovation to manufacture and retail vegetable powder.
Amazing Farmer carries a variety of vegetable powders such as tomato, spinach, beets, and carrot, all of which can be used for different recipes for any meal of the day. Furthermore, they are nutritious as they are rich in dietary fiber and contain phytochemicals.
Vegetables contain phytochemicals, including polyphenol, beta carotene and lycopene, which are high in antioxidants, anti-aging, and immune-boosting. However, we cannot reap these benefits just by consuming vegetables. They have to be extracted through the breaking down of the cells of vegetables, something the human digestive system cannot do so.
In place of that, Amazing Farmer uses a turbo dry manufacturing method. Heat is released, and the vegetables pass through jet grinders that break down the vegetables’ cells, transforming them into powder. The powder form makes phytochemicals to be easily absorbed, allowing the body to reap its effectiveness.
Vegetable powders also provide the same amount of nutrients as vegetables but at a fraction of their quantity. 20 grams of vegetable powder is equivalent to 200 grams of vegetables. Amazing Farmer allows one to consume less for more. Also, they are additive-free, portable, and have a long shelf life of two years.
Amazing Farmer is a versatile product that makes it possible for people to incorporate zero-waste cooking in their everyday lives. It is also a simple and fun way to kick start sustainable living into one’s household.
