Sustainable dining spot THE TEST KITCHEN is updating its concept of its food laboratory, with plans to transition from a sustainable diner to a regenerative community space. It will introduce menus and activities designed to actively restore the environment and support social welfare.

The restaurant is adopting circular agricultural produce through partnerships with FARMER YOU and Vegi-Dream. Vegi-Dream uses the Nutrient Film Technique, a hydroponic method that minimises water and fertiliser usage regardless of weather conditions. The farm also practises agriculture-welfare collaboration, providing career advancement opportunities and independence for individuals with disabilities. Produce such as watercress, sanchu and rocket grown through this initiative feature in the restaurant menu. Diners receive leaflets detailing the production background, fostering an educational dining experience.

The manager of THE TEST KITCHEN visited the Vegi-Dream farm and observed the careful manual labour and circular systems supporting the local community. He stated his intention to communicate the dedication of the producers through the physical space and informative leaflets, using customer feedback to develop future menus in an open food laboratory.

The venue further integrates circularity through its interior design and community functions. They will install experiential art pieces woven by hand from discarded menus and posters, symbolising the continuous loop of creation and reuse. Beyond the lunch service, THE TEST KITCHEN opens its space in the evening for community use and cross-industry dialogue. Planned activities include agricultural workshops and talk events focusing on the future of food.
