Gateway to Sustainability in Japan

Tokyo Creative Salon 2024 unveils a portion of content for SDGs

Tokyo’s streets are set to transform into a vibrant stage for “Tokyo Creative Salon 2024,” a grand festival that amalgamates the essence of fashion and design, embracing sustainability and innovation at its core. From March 14 to 24, ten iconic areas of Tokyo will become the focal points of creativity, aiming to position the city as a global creative hub.

The festival’s vision is to create a city where creative inspiration is omnipresent, enriching lives and fostering happiness. In line with this vision, the Tokyo Creative Salon 2024, or TCS24, will feature an array of sustainable initiatives, including a unique event where attendees can exchange their old clothes for samples or personal items from the MIKIOSAKABE fashion brand.

Highlighting the urgency of sustainable practices within the fashion and design industry, TCS24 aims to challenge and update traditional business norms through SDGs ACTION, encouraging participants to bring their worn-out clothes to fashion show venues for recycling. These collected items will be transformed into new creations for the 2025 TCS showcase. Additionally, TCS24 will host a collaboration with the documentary “Spinning Dresses Ablaze” by fashion designer Yuima Nakazato, addressing the fashion industry’s environmental impact and exploring innovative solutions from within.

The festival also includes the “NEW VINTAGE WORKSHOP” in Marunouchi, where participants can revamp selected or brought used items with designs by popular creators, promoting the reuse of clothing as a modern lifestyle choice.

Furthermore, the “TOKYO Green Vision” project will explore the coexistence of urban spaces and nature, presenting various ideas for increasing greenery in Tokyo’s future, including the “Moving Green” experiment, which aims to deliver relaxing, nature-filled experiences across different city locations.
