Nisshin Rubber Co., Ltd. launches its new earth-friendly sneaker brand “RALLY ROUND.” The first model of RALLY ROUND is made from 93% plant-derived materials, including bamboo and recycled coffee filters.
The first model of RALLY ROUND is a perfect example of their dedication to creating eco-friendly products that cater to the modern lifestyle. The sneaker boasts sustainable and unique technologies such as “Bambrub,” a soft, lightweight rubber made from Japanese bamboo and natural rubber, and “Cafetex,” a breathable and durable fabric made from recycled coffee filter waste.
The project manager at Nisshin Rubber, shared, “Sneakers are essential in today’s modern lifestyle. However, the current trend of mass production often results in the use of harmful materials like plastic, synthetic rubber, and petroleum-derived fabrics. We believe in taking action against this and have worked hard to develop an earth-friendly sneaker that is not only comfortable but also stylish.”
The development of these innovative materials started three years ago. The research initially focused on plants like Japanese pampas grass and dandelions. Still, the breakthrough came when the company discovered bamboo powder, which accelerated the development of “Bambrub.” The need for a breathable and durable fabric led to the creation of “Cafetex.”
In addition to the innovative materials, RALLY ROUND has collaborated with various brands and material manufacturers from Northern and Southern Europe to diversify its designs. One such collaboration is with the Estonian artisanal shoe brand “TOKU,” with a new model incorporating ideas from the brand’s designer, Piibe, set to be released in the winter of 2023.
