LOWRUNDER opens NEAR Harajuku flagship store for upcycled fashion

Remake clothing brand LOWRUNDER has opened its flagship store, NEAR Harajuku, in Tokyo. The shop is located in the shopping district between Harajuku and Sendagaya, it serves as a hub for upcycled apparel and one-of-a-kind garments. The brand features an integrated atelier where staff produce items and provide on-site customisation for customers.

LOWRUNDER specialises in upcycling vintage clothing and unused textiles into unisex items. The brand follows the concept of giving new life to a bygoine time, combining domestic and international materials through patchwork, stitching, and painting. The product range includes T-shirts, sarrouel trousers, hooded dresses, and denim jackets.

The in-store atelier allows for immediate alterations, such as hem adjustments and detail customisation, promoting a connection between the maker and the wearer and fostering an appreciation for the history and materials of each garment.

The store’s philosophy which emphasises local production and immediate craftsmanship. The interior featuring flooring constructed from reclaimed timber. A large handmade wardrobe displays art books and plants alongside unique stuffed animals crafted from fabric scraps.

LOWRUNDER intends to develop a new production system centred on remake techniques.
