Disaster prevention company Nohmi Bosai Ltd. has received the Chairperson of the Examination Committee Award at the 2026 Food Loss Reduction Promotion Awards. The awards are jointly organised by the Ministry of the Environment and the Consumer Affairs Agency, and recognise exceptional initiatives that effectively reduce food waste and inspire nationwide momentum. Nohmi Bosai was commended for its Stockle+ service, which facilitates the donation of corporate emergency food stockpiles to welfare groups and food banks.

Japanese companies routinely hold emergency food rations to prepare for natural disasters, but replacing these items near their expiration date presents logistical hurdles. Businesses often struggle to identify suitable charities, confirm food criteria, coordinate delivery schedules, and manage administrative procedures independently, leading many to dispose of edible food as waste. Stockle+, which was launched in 2024, resolves these operational barriers by handling recipient selection, paperwork, and shipping arrangements on behalf of participating corporations.
The service operates as a central coordinator between corporate donors and community organisations. Nohmi Bosai assesses recipient requirements, including acceptable food categories, quantities, and delivery timelines, ensuring that donations match the practical capacities of local food banks. Between its launch and late March 2026, Stockle+ facilitated the donation of approximately 37.1 tonnes of emergency food across more than 27 welfare organisations.
In its evaluation, the award examination committee noted that Nohmi Bosai established a sustainable structural model by providing comprehensive support for securing recipients and processing procedures. The company plans to continue expanding its partnerships with food banks to advance food loss reduction efforts across Japan.
