Zenbird Editorial TeamTsunan Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. officially launched its metaverse platform, “Lunar Brewery,” a virtual space that serves as a platform for international promotion and inbound tourism. This is Tsunan’s innovative step to redefine the brewery experience.
The project stems from the company’s long-term “2040 Vision,” which proposes the establishment of a physical sake brewery on the moon! The brewery focuses on the value of fermentation as a vital component of food culture even in closed environments, and seeks to design a brewing culture for the space age. Furthermore, international interest in Japanese sake remains high, the demand for authentic storytelling and immersive experiences has become a critical factor for regional producers.
The brewery is located in the heavy snow region of Tsunan. It utilises local Uonuma Koshikari rice and employs generative AI for smart brewing processes. To support its global expansion, the brewery also introduced an AI-driven promotion agent capable of communicating across multiple languages and markets.
The Lunar Brewery metaverse is designed to reproduce a brewery of the year 2040 in the present day. Users can access the space via various devices to explore lunar architectural concepts and the potential for microbial production in space. The platform will host virtual tours, global conferences, and distribution meetings to facilitate international value exchange.
Kengo Suzuki, CEO of Tsunan Sake Brewery, says that sake is a culture born from the convergence of land, water, rice, microorganisms, and human activity. The Lunar Brewery would serve as a new touchpoint to share the story of the Niigata-based brewery across borders, engaging tourists before they arrive in Japan and connect with overseas fans regardless of distance.
