Umekita Flea Market brings vintage charm to Osaka

Flea market lovers, alert! The Umekita Flea Market will take this weekend from 20 to 22 March at Grand Green Osaka. The event is held at PLAT UMEKITA and Smørrebrød KITCHEN, located within Umekita Park.

The market will feature a curated selection of vintage items, antiques, jewellery, and old tools sourced from Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, and other regions worldwide. The organisers focus on portable items that visitors can easily carry home by train. Participating vendors include Atelier momo, idola, OSMWORKS (&C), Osoblanco, and CHARKHA, among others.

A highlight of the event is a kintsugi workshop hosted by tsugibito (baco.works). Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese craft that repairs broken pottery with lacquer and gold, treasuring the history of an object rather than discarding it.

While the workshop requires prior booking, the market also offers a farm to table dining experience at Smørrebrød KITCHEN. The cafe serves Danish open sandwiches made with ingredients from trusted producers, avoiding chemical additives.

The organisers are planning to hold the Umekita Flea Market on a fixed basis every few months, so that it will become a consistent event for citizens and tourists.
