New platform connects traditional craftspeople with corporate partners

Cultural media platform Kogei Japonica is starting a support service to connect traditional Japanese artisans with businesses, local governments, and commercial entities. It targets market expansion, collaborative product development, craft rentals, and promotional channels.

There are structural challenges that create a gap between traditional craft preservation and modern commercial opportunities. Japan has a rich ecosystem of regional crafts, materials, and techniques passed down across generations. However, individual craftspeople and regional workshops frequently face operational barriers, including limited access to modern sales channels, marketing expertise, and corporate networks.

Concurrently, businesses and local municipalities seek to incorporate authentic regional craftsmanship into hotels, offices, or regional development projects face difficulties in identifying appropriate creators.

Kogei Japonica is expanding its model beyond editorial work to provide a matchmaking framework. Craft operators and independent artisans register their profiles, technical specialisations, and background details. The platform accepts registration from artisans preserving or modernising traditional Japanese techniques, regardless of geographic location or formal certification status.

For corporate clients and municipalities, the platform facilitates product development, regional marketing strategies, corporate gifts, and craft rental services for commercial spaces such as hotels, offices, and restaurants. This way, Kogei Japonica enables artisans to concentrate on production while securing sustainable commercial opportunities.
