Ethical brand LIB launches its first mixed-material Canvas Collection, which features 100% recycled cotton canvas, with material upcycled from textile waste and offcuts generated during garment manufacturing.

This is a different path for the brand as they focused primarily on leather goods. Seeing how there was a growing demand for versatile, lightweight bags suitable for both professional and personal use, LIB decided to offer an additional ethical choice that integrates into daily life rather than focusing solely on leather products. The use of recycled cotton canvas allows for a more casual aesthetic while maintaining durability.
The recycled cotton material is created by collecting discarded fibres and offcuts from clothing production and spinning them into new yarn. This upcycling process gives value to resources that were previously treated as waste. By combining this canvas with genuine leather, the brand balances environmental responsibility with quality craftsmanship.

The initial launch features two models. The Canvas Mini Shoulder Bag weighs approximately 265 grams and features an adjustable, removable strap. The Canvas Wide Tote Bag is designed for larger capacity, including a zipped pocket and five bottom studs for protection. Both items are available in two colours at 21 LIB stores across Japan and through the official online shop.
Future plans include exploring other materials such as suede and nylon to further diversify the brand’s ethical offerings. LIB intends to release additional items in this collection through August 2026. The company also expressed interest in collaborating with other producers and creators to develop new sustainable value in the fashion industry.
