MOTHERHOUSE Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based company known for their mission to create globally recognized brands from developing countries, has launched a unique product named “Rinne Silk Scarf”. This offering, a product of the company’s Rinne series, repurposes silk fabric collected from customers or scraps generated during production, transforming them into a vibrant accessory.
What makes this initiative notable is the original materials: gradient silk stoles which were unsuitable for regular store sales due to slight inconsistencies in their hand-dyed patterns. However, instead of discarding these textiles, MOTHERHOUSE found an opportunity to repurpose the quality fabric. These fabrics were rearranged in a patchwork style to create an elegant scarf, featuring an aesthetically pleasing combination of gradient and color block designs.
The product will be sold at MOTHERHOUSE’s newly established “Last Piece Store.” in Akihabara, Tokyo, a concept store focused on the efficient use of limited resources. This store brings together products with scarce inventory from all around the country, embodying the brand’s principle to “deliver with responsibility to the end as a maker of things.”
The inception of the “Rinne Silk Scarf” reflects MOTHERHOUSE’s intent to provide customers with renewed versions of the products they have created, making the most out of every piece of material. This exclusive scarf will be available at the Last Piece Store. and through their online storefront.
