DeepExperience Inc. has partnered with Sagano Scenic Railway Co., Ltd. to launch a unique, eco-conscious tour in the scenic city of Kameoka. This initiative, part of Japan’s “Tourism Reboot Project,” showcases Kameoka’s bountiful natural landscapes and rich water sources, including the Hozu River, focusing on the region’s intrinsic natural and cultural assets.
Tourism Reboot Project targets the influx of inbound travelers into the Kameoka area. The project’s primary goals are to highlight the charm of Kameoka’s pristine natural environment and encourage longer stays to enhance tourism expenditure. The result is a comprehensive package combining a variety of experiential programs for visitors.
Centered around the theme “Experiencing Water Cycles in Satoyama,” the tour allows participants to immerse themselves in traditional practices and agricultural activities linked to water, fostering meaningful interactions with locals. The initiative aligns with the rising global interest in eco-tourism and responsible travel, offering a range of sustainable experiences that underscore Kameoka’s commitment as an SDGs future city.
Nestled amidst mountains and encompassing a broad basin area, Kameoka is renowned for its lush natural beauty and rich water resources, particularly the Hozu River. The city is known for its active participation in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and conservation of traditional industries. This two-day sustainable guided tour, starting from 110,000 yen per person, is designed for groups ranging from two to seven participants. It promises an all-encompassing experience of Kameoka’s charm, including cycling through pastoral landscapes and engaging with nature-centric agricultural practices.
The tour itinerary will include a blend of activities like countryside cycling and sustainable practices aimed at environmental conservation. It also provides an opportunity to explore industries that have thrived around the natural water cycle.
To attract international tourists visiting Kyoto, DeepExperience plans to undertake a targeted promotional campaign. Leveraging the power of influencers, the marketing strategy will focus on video content and social media promotion, targeting residents in key tourism markets like the USA, UK, Australia, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. These efforts aim to draw a global audience to the unique, sustainable attractions of Kameoka.
