Mount Takao, a destination renowned for its panoramic views and hiking trails, will soon be the home of something just as extraordinary: a new frontier in sustainable living. JEPLAN Inc., an industry leader in the circular economy, announced the October 21 opening of its second direct-to-consumer store, “BRING CIRCULAR TAKAO,” in Hachioji City.
Positioned as an “extension of the circular experience,” this store aims to embody the ethos of JEPLAN’s unique chemical recycling technology, “BRING Technology™.” JEPLAN collaborates with partners worldwide to transform old garments into new apparel and repurpose used PET bottles, contributing to a more sustainable use of resources.
Strategically located an hour by train from Tokyo’s city center and just a 3-minute walk from Takaosanguchi Station, the new store is designed to captivate a broad audience of nature enthusiasts. It serves both as a retail space for BRING, JEPLAN’s 100% recycled polyester apparel brand, and a collection point for used clothing.
The store goes beyond clothing, venturing into the realm of beverages. It offers drinks in containers crafted from recycled PET resin. Collaborative events with partner companies invested in resource circulation are also in the pipeline.
The store is setting new standards for retail sustainability. All electrical needs will be met using renewable energy sources, and the interior will feature furnishings made from upcycled materials.
This launch is perfectly timed to capitalize on Mount Takao’s peak season, which starts in November with the onset of autumn foliage.
With its newest location, JEPLAN is not merely selling products; it’s offering an immersive experience in sustainable living, right at the doorstep of Tokyo’s most accessible nature escape. The move is poised to bring the circular economy from the abstract to the concrete, marking a significant milestone in Japan’s journey towards a more circular future.
