Gateway to Sustainability in Japan

Good Nature Station’s ‘Good Action for Planet’ for Environmental Month

GOOD NATURE STATION, a multipurpose commercial facility managed by BIOSTYLE Inc., is bringing attention to environmental awareness through their initiative, “Good Action for the Planet.” Kicked off on Earth Day on April 22, the program will span through June, a globally recognized Environmental Month.

Environmental Month features World Environment Day on June 5, a time when countries worldwide amplify environmental preservation’s significance, often through an array of events and activities. With this global focus in mind, GOOD NATURE STATION seized Earth Day as an opportunity to get people actively thinking about the environment, engaging visitors in activities like pet bottle cap crushing.

The initiative continues through June with a schedule brimming with environmental exhibitions, workshops, and campaigns. Whether individuals engage with the facility in person or opt for online shopping, GOOD NATURE STATION aims to encourage environmental reflection and active participation.

As society gravitates towards sustainable practices to combat environmental challenges, GOOD NATURE STATION promotes the opportunity to reassess personal lifestyle choices through hands-on learning.

Earlier on Earth Day, April 22, the facility hosted an enlightening event at its entrance square, MAENIWA. Participants were exposed to recycling and upcycling processes, employing a bicycle shredder to crush pet bottle caps and engage in plastic-related quizzes. Demonstrations also showed participants how to create coasters using pet bottle caps.

Here are some highlights to expect in the coming month:

World Environment Day on June 5 will see the sale of Food Rescue Packs. These packages include surplus retort food initially produced as support items during the COVID pandemic, organic dried sweet potatoes deemed unsuitable for commercial use due to their color, and premium nuts that exceeded the ordered quantity during manufacturing.

Moreover, the “Good for Earth Exhibition” offers an interactive panel exhibition themed on “pet bottles” ubiquitous in everyday life, providing eco-conscious decorative ideas and an immersive photo booth experience using plant-powered “botanical light.” The event also features a “Good Award for the Earth” board, a platform where customers can share environmentally friendly actions, stimulating awareness, experience, and action towards a greener lifestyle.

Lastly, the “engrace Kintsugi Jewelry Workshop” delivers a unique opportunity to craft SDGs accessories with kintsugi, a traditional Japanese art form combining pottery fragments with vibrant natural stones. These pieces, handcrafted and polished by the instructor, originate from pottery that has been damaged or discarded, ensuring the craft promotes a cycle of reuse and creativity.
