A consortium of five Japanese companies has launched a new service to help manufacturers integrate circular economy principles into their core operations, named “Circular Co-Evolution” (CCE).
The collaboration brings together Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing, Amita Corporation, ABeam Consulting, Circular Links, and GX Concierge. It aims to provide a comprehensive solution for manufacturing firms, which face increasing pressure to reduce their environmental impact and secure volatile supply chains.

There is a need in Japan’s manufacturing sector, as it is a significant contributor to national CO2 emissions. Furthermore, it is their goal to transition towards a circular economy to meet carbon neutrality goals. The service also responds to growing geopolitical risks affecting resource procurement and the shift in ESG from a reporting exercise to a driver of corporate value.
CCE offers a one-stop service that guides companies through three stages: planning, transformation, and operational improvement. It supports the development of circular business models focused on reuse and recycling, supply chain redesign, traceability systems, financing, and organisational change management.
Each company in the consortium provides specialised expertise. Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing will offer financial services and asset management. Amita will contribute its knowledge of circular business design and resource recovery. ABeam Consulting will manage business and IT transformation, while Circular Links will provide a traceability platform. GX Concierge will focus on decarbonisation and energy management solutions.
The consortium stated its goal is to support Japan’s transition from an “economic superpower to a circular superpower.” It aims to provide the CCE solution to 100 companies over the next three years, with a focus on businesses where resource circulation and decarbonisation are key management issues. The group also plans to hold seminars and individual consultations to promote the adoption of circular business models.
