Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation has announced the completion of a major repowering project at its Nishime Wind Farm in Akita Prefecture and a new strategic partnership for its Tokushima operations.
The Nishime Wind Farm, situated in Yurihonjo City, commenced commercial operations on 1 March. The facility originally began operating in November 2004 but was decommissioned in March 2023 to undergo a total equipment replacement due to the age of the infrastructure.

During the repowering process, the operator replaced 15 Vestas turbines, each with a capacity of 2,000 kW, with seven Siemens Energy turbines. These new units each possess a capacity of 4,300 kW. Although the total interconnection capacity remains at 30,000 kW, the use of larger, consolidated turbines is expected to boost electricity generation and enhance maintenance efficiency compared to the previous configuration.
The electricity produced is sold to Tohoku Electric Power Network Co., Inc. The facility generates enough power to meet the needs of approximately 15,000 average households and is projected to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 24,000 tonnes.
In a concurrent development, Eurus Energy Holdings completed the transfer of a 50 per cent stake in its Kamikatsu-Kamiyama Wind Farm to Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. on 2 March. Following this transaction, the project has been renamed the Eurus Yonden Kamikatsu-Kamiyama Wind Farm.
The Tokushima facility, which spans Kamikatsu Town and Kamiyama Town, has a total output of 34,500 kW from 15 turbines. It has been in operation since July 2022. The two companies will now manage the site as joint venture partners, utilising their respective expertise in the power sector to ensure a stable energy supply and support the transition to a decarbonised society.
