Gaia Vision Co. Ltd. has released the official version of its Climate Vision platform for managing climate change and flood risks. This application was originally launched as a beta version in July 2022 and provides quantitative analysis of climate change risks such as floods.
The official version of Climate Vision includes new features, such as future climate scenario analysis and financial impact assessment. These features enable companies all over the world to analyze changes in risks at their sites using common future climate scenarios, such as the 1.5°C, 2°C, and 4°C rise scenarios. Risk evaluation can also be conducted from a financial perspective based on the asset value of each site. By using Climate Vision, it is possible to conduct quantitative analysis of physical risks as required by TCFD and others.
While various data and analysis services exist for climate physical risks, they often face practical issues such as low resolution, difficult analytical procedures, and inability to perform financial calculations. Climate Vision overcomes these limitations by providing high-resolution data that has been scientifically verified and financial impact analysis, resulting in reliability and high functionality that other services do not have.
The increasing importance of sustainability information disclosure by companies has led to the development of this new feature. TCFD has garnered significant attention in Japan and abroad, with more than 1,300 Japanese companies supporting it as of February 22. The International Sustainability Standards Board is also discussing the need for quantitative scenario analysis for companies. This highlights the increasing need for risk analysis and information disclosure, particularly for listed companies.
Sustainability managers at companies have expressed concerns about difficulties in analyzing overseas sites and uncertainty about future scenario analysis methods. Gaia Vision aims to provide a web application that can be easily analyzed, reducing the burden of information disclosure tasks for companies and gaining trust from the market.
Climate Vision is available to business companies, financial institutions, and municipalities, with several plans based on the number of analysis points and functions.
