Gateway to Sustainability in Japan

ASPLUND transforms denim waste into new sustainable material STELAPOP

ASPLUND announced its latest sustainable material, STELAPOP by ASPLUND, releasing a catalogue that showcases a variety of items made from the new material, with orders opening next week, December 9.

STELAPOP by ASPLUND is a brand dedicated to transforming waste into valuable resources, giving new life to discarded denim that would have otherwise contributed to environmental pollution. It helps to reduce landfill waste and conserve natural resources. These versatile material boards are used to craft sustainable furniture, such as tabletops and sofa frames, and also in the production of various other items.

The manufacturing process is environmentally friendly. Denim waste is carefully sorted by material and colour to maximize reuse potential, then mixed with a special binder and dried. The material is then finely crushed, blended, designed, pressed, and polished to create the final boards. Each board undergoes thorough inspection to ensure quality before shipping.

The precise sorting of denim by colour not only prevents waste but also enables the creation of vibrant, distinct base colours, a feature often challenging to achieve with recycled materials. This results in a colourful and richly textured product, demonstrating the potential of upcycling fashion waste into high-value, sustainable materials that are both visually appealing and environmentally conscious.

ASPLUND hopes to inspire a future that is not only beautiful and abundant but also sustainable, driven by a deep respect for our limited resources. Through STELAPOP, ASPLUND showcases its dedication to responsible production, mindful consumption, and the creation of products that contribute positively to both the environment and society.
