VERS, a brand based in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, is expanding the possibilities of upcycling with Fragment Rose, a project that deconstructs vintage clothing from around the world and reconstructs the materials into handcrafted roses.

By using materials such as vintage denim, military wear, French antique linen, and leather, the brand preserves the history and textures in these fabrics by turning them into roses. Each rose is unique, since the specific fades, wear patterns, and textures of the original clothing affect the final appearance of the flower.

Fragment Rose changes how we think about fashion and floral gifts, because unlike fragile dried flowers or fresh flowers that wither, these textile roses can exist as permanent interior pieces. Since the official launch in January 2026, the products have gained traction for various occasions, including birthdays, wedding anniversaries, and commercial displays in restaurants and boutiques.
The production process also collaborates with welfare facilities for certain stages of manufacturing, creating employment opportunities and fostering social inclusion through craftsmanship.
The brand intends to continue exploring the potential of upcycling by collaborating with other companies to repurpose surplus fabrics and archives into these symbolic floral forms.
