Yokohama City has announced the “Yokohama Resource Circulation Promotion Platform” to accelerate collaboration between the city and local waste management operators to enhance circularity in the city. By linking manufacturing industries (arterial) with recycling and disposal industries (venous), the platform aims to create synergies for efficient resource use and develop advanced recycling technologies to support a greener economy.
A kick-off event titled “The First Step Toward a Decarbonized Circular Economy – A Challenge to Harmonize Environment and Economy” will be held next week on Wednesday (November 27) at Vlag Yokohama. The event will feature lectures from leading companies in resource circulation and a panel discussion with experts. It is expected to attract participants interested in decarbonization, circular economy practices, and recycled materials.
The event will include keynote speeches from leaders in sustainable resource management. Goon, ZACROS Corporation, J&T Environment, and RECOTECH will share their activities in resource circulation. For example, Goon Co will share how they would be advancing wood and plastic recycling in Southeast Asia, while Recotech will share how they connect manufacturers with recycled material suppliers through a data platform to foster a circular supply chain. Representatives from the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will also be exchanging insights on harmonizing environmental sustainability with economic growth.
