Zenbird Editorial TeamTaisei Corporation has unvieled the 12 environmental technologies it will implement for its sustainable building TAISEI GREEN TERRACE pavilion, planned for the GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama, Japan.
The facility will offer visitors panoramic views of the floral and green landscapes. However, the true feature lies in the 12 specific technologies integrated into the building to achieve decarbonisation, resource circulation and a nature-positive environment. These technologies include Green Multi Solar panels that generate electricity directly from the building structure and T-eConcrete, an environmentally friendly material that reduces carbon dioxide emissions. The construction also uses thinned wood and incorporates systems to reuse rainwater and irrigation water for planting.
The company wants to avoid a “build and abandon” approach, and designed the building with a wooden frame connected by bolts and screws. This allows the materials to be easily dismantled, reused and recycled after the expo concludes in September 2027. The initiative aligns with their long-term environmental goals TAISEI Green Target 2050 and embodies the expo theme, “Scenery of Tomorrow Creating Happiness”.
