Gateway to Sustainability in Japan

TADORi utilizes blockchain for carbon tracing in denim manufacturing

UPDATER Corporation’s sustainable project, TADORi, announced in April that it would utilize its self-developed blockchain system, “TADORi CHAiN – Tsunagu β,” to track the carbon dioxide emissions generated during the denim production process.

The demonstration experiment will be conducted on three types of denim products from the domestic denim manufacturer, Daytona International. By visualizing and recording on the blockchain the amount of carbon emissions at every production stage, from the raw materials involved in the production of denim to the suppliers, they aim to verify the production process in an unalterable state. Furthermore, this information is available for anyone to view.

UPDATER stated that achieving traceability at the product level enables the visualization of corporate initiatives in areas such as distribution route control, raw material procurement proof, and waste disposal, contributing to the practice of high corporate activities. In the current trend of prioritizing ethical consumption, which protects the natural environment, they suggest it could contribute to the realization of a well-being lifestyle for consumers.

So far, TADORi has worked on projects such as “Tadoreru Cashmere,” which achieves cost transparency in the supply chain of cashmere products, and the chocolate producer support project “Tadoreru Chocolate,” supporting brands to enhance their credibility and value.
