Zenbird Editorial TeamSangetsu Corporation and TEIJIN FRONTIER CO., LTD. have launched a horizontal circular recycling system to turn used polyester curtains into new curtains. The system combines Sangetsu’s nationwide collection network with TEIJIN FRONTIER’s chemical recycling technology, addressing the long-standing challenge of curtain-to-curtain recycling in the interior industry.
The system targets 100% polyester curtains, including post-consumer products and surplus inventory from discontinued lines. Through chemical recycling, the materials are converted into polyester raw materials equivalent in quality to virgin petroleum-based alternatives and reused to produce new curtains, forming a closed-loop supply chain.
Polyester curtains are widely used but often incinerated or landfilled at the end of their lifecycle, and the new system will enable these materials to be recycled into new products.
