Plastic circularity with Circular Navi’s new functions

JEMS Inc. recently announced the launch of two new features for its resource circulation value demonstration service, “Circular Navi”: the “Plastic New Law Compliance Function” and “Mass Balance Certification Compliance Function”.

“Circular Navi,” a cloud service, provides an environmental value assessment for each product in the context of a circular economy. This encompasses elements such as traceability of a circular supply chain within corporate operations and visualization of resource regeneration rates. By offering transparency of supply chain information via a digital product passport, it facilitates sharing of environmentally related information. Details such as the origin of recycled materials and the quantity of resources regenerated can be shared among participating companies within the supply chain and can also be made public to stakeholders, including consumers.

This innovative approach contributes to the optimization of decarbonization and resource procurement costs in circular business, enabling the realization of circularity across an entire company.

The “Law on Promotion of Resource Circulation of Plastics,” implemented in April 2022, mandates an increase in the recycling rate of plastic products. Despite the absence of a specific plan for achieving this, many challenges persist in resource circulation management. “Circular Navi” assists in managing these challenges by providing a platform to manage the utilization and recycling rates of plastic product raw materials. By rendering the data related to a company’s plastic use products visible, it enables the enhancement of the recycling rate right from the production and product design stages.

The new Plastic Law requires data management similar to a manifest. “Circular Navi” allows for data registration at collection points, registration of transportation/recycling data, and transaction performance data management and reporting. Thus, it enables various players to meet the requirements of the Plastic New Law.

The Mass Balance Certification Compliance Function aids in the management of residual materials, use-by date, input and output of substances, loss product management, and report creation. This function, built on the data procured from mass balance accounting, empowers users to produce reports about the production process.
