IDOM Inc., the operator of the Gulliver used car dealership network, has entered into a location agreement with Minami-Alps City in Yamanashi Prefecture to develop its first sustainable commercial facility.
The facility will integrate reuse into various aspects of daily life, including clothing, food, and housing. The shopping area will feature a selection of brands that specialise in second-hand goods and sustainable practices. This includes retailers for clothing, interior accessories, and mobility products. The facility intends to attract tenants that provide repair services and recycling initiatives to encourage customers to use high-quality products for longer periods.
Educational and community spaces are also part of the development. An all-weather kids area will combine play and learning, featuring inclusive equipment designed for children of all physical abilities. The site will also host a digital art installation and a vocational learning centre. Furthermore, there are plans for a food and book museum area, which will house one of the largest collections of children’s literature in Japan.
A central commons area will serve as a hub for community interaction and events. This space is designed to host music festivals, local markets, and flea markets in collaboration with neighbouring facilities.
The company will announce specific tenant details as the project progresses toward its scheduled opening.
