Discovering a Sustainable Future from Japan

Natural Moony, Japan’s first baby diaper brand to be OEKO-TEX certified

Natural Moony, by Unicharm Corporation, announced that it is the first baby diaper brand in Japan to be awarded the OEKO-TEX for “STANDARD 100 by OKEO-TEX”, certified by Nisseken Quality Evaluation Center.

Certification from OEKO-TEX is Unicharm Corporation’s contribution to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that promotes sustainable consumption and production patterns.

OEKO-TEX is a certification that verifies the safety of products and their production in the textile and leather industry. STANDARD 100 is specifically for the textile industry. It tests the presence of harmful substances and chemicals such as ago dyes, formaldehyde, and nickel. At OEKO-TEX, laboratory tests are conducted using over a hundred test parameters. This ensures that the components and materials used in every single textile product comply with the criteria.

Essentially, OEKO-TEX is in place to counter the challenges faced by manufacturers to grasp the safety of their products in their businesses. There are also multiple benefits that manufacturers can reap from this certification.

OEKO-TEX is an international label that is trusted by many. They pride in their structure of work that aids manufacturers in making informative decisions. With over 14.000 certified companies registered under the OEKO-TEX network, manufacturers are able to choose their suppliers from a reliable database.

OEKO-TEX is also an efficient way to keep an overview of different manufacturing standards across the world. Furthermore, it is cost-effective. This is made possible by its modular approach which utilizes test methods of testing that are distributed across individual production steps. Finished products with components that are certified in full, can also have their testing costs waived.

Unicharm Corporation is one step forward to support a future with sustainable manufacturing processes in the textile industry.
