Felissimo has been involved in maintaining the sustainability of India’s organic cotton industry for the past ten years. They do so by donating a portion of profits made from the sale of their organic cotton products. To date, they have contributed over 35 million yen.

Released in March 2020, the LLC Project will introduce a capsule collection of four new fashion pieces to their existing range of organic cotton wear. For every purchase of organic cotton products, 100 yen will be donated to India’s Mading Padar Village. The donation will support three main areas: the agriculture of organic cotton, the gender pay gap faced by women and the lack of education for children.

LLC Project yields benefits beyond monetary support. It also achieves a circular economy, a system that is essential to the cotton industry.

Cotton is well-known to be a chemically intensive crop. However, organic cotton, on the other hand, has the lowest environmental impact in the cotton market, as it does not use toxic chemicals to produce. According to a study conducted by Textile Exchange in 2014. in 2014, organic cotton farming practices have environmental savings in multiple areas, not limited to: 26 percent less potential for soil erosion, and 91 percent less in surface and groundwater usage.

The discovery of organic cotton has cushioned the environmental impacts of cotton production. However, ensuring ethical methods of production are still overlooked, and the LLC Project changes that. India is one of the world’s largest exporters for cotton. More often than not, cotton farmers do not receive the right and fair working conditions. A shift needs to be made.

The donation made by the LLC Project supports the indispensable aspects of cotton farming and the welfare of the farmers, allowing for the continual production of organic cotton, to be made into clothing for sale, and the cycle repeats. When done successfully, the circular economy model allows the project to support itself.

The LLC Project’s fashion pieces are the embroidered knit, the jacquard top, the jacquard cardigan, and the willow top. An understanding of the workings of the LLC Project can produce an informed society of conscious consumers.
