Hospitality design service Kimono Concierge announced that it reached a milestone of 20 participating facilities. The service integrates traditional Japanese attire into the hotel environment to transform standard accommodation into a cultural experience. Since its launch in May 2025, the programme has seen steady adoption by hotels seeking to differentiate themselves and provide authentic value to international visitors.
The company installs kimono and hanten displays in spaces like lobbies and common areas. These decorations rotate according to the Japanese seasons, such as cherry blossoms in spring or festivals in summer, allowing guests to perceive the changing seasons immediately upon arrival.
For the human element, the service offers bespoke staff uniforms that incorporate traditional Japanese clothing. This visual integration facilitates communication between staff and international guests, making the hospitality itself a part of the cultural narrative. Furthermore, the service provides a simplified kimono rental system for guests allowing visitors to receive the garments at the front desk and dress themselves in their rooms without professional assistance.
Operational efficiency is a core feature of the service, as it manages the selection of garments, seasonal rotations, and implementation support to minimise the burden on hotel staff. The rental process is designed to fit within standard front desk duties, and the company handles maintenance tasks such as cleaning.
Feedback from participating hotels in the Kanto and Kansai regions indicates that the seasonal displays significantly alter the atmosphere of the facilities. Operators noted that the simplified rental system allows guests to create lasting memories without requiring staff to possess specialised dressing skills.
