Inclusive workplaces seek diverse talent at JobRainbow Shigoto EXPO

On November 18, JobRainbow Inc. will host the “JobRainbow Shigoto EXPO 2023” at Shinjuku LUMINE 0. This will be Japan’s most extensive joint recruitment event focused on diversity and inclusion, with an estimated participation of around 1,000 diverse talents, including those from the LGBTQ+ community, and approximately 20 companies committed to fostering diverse workplaces.

While awareness about diverse sexual orientations and the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community is gradually increasing, recruitment activities and workplace environments that cater to diverse sexual orientations remain insufficient. Many instances involve individuals being discriminated against during the recruitment process, including cases of job offers being rescinded after disclosure of transgender identity during human resources interviews.

One of the event highlights includes the opportunity for attendees to meet LGBTQ+ friendly companies from across the country that are committed to diversity and inclusion. In previous events organized by JobRainbow, some attendees have received job offers on the spot after interviewing with company representatives.

The event will also offer a range of content and resources to help individuals from all backgrounds and identities find tips on how to remain true to themselves in the workplace. Lastly, the EXPO will feature special booths designed to help attendees express themselves at work, addressing the common struggle many face in understanding how to navigate self-expression in professional settings.
