Hummingbird Power to launch new 100% renewable energy rate plan

Borderless Japan Corporation is offering a new rate plan that delivers 100% renewable energy at a remarkably low and consistent operational cost of just 500 yen per month.

Amid a landscape of increasing power rates, Hummingbird Power’s new plan arrives like a breath of fresh air, intending to alleviate the financial burden on consumers and promote the use of entirely renewable energy. Notably, the operational cost remains a flat rate of 500 yen, a steadfast figure that doesn’t fluctuate with the change of seasons or the ebb and flow of power usage.

Key features of the plan underscore its commitment to transparency, affordability, and sustainability. The cost to consumers corresponds directly to the wholesale market price of electricity, without an added profit margin. Only charges associated with electricity supply, such as procurement and delivery fees, are passed on to the customers.

Contrary to typical power companies that bill based on power consumption, Hummingbird Power keeps the operational cost fixed at 500 yen per month. This strategic pricing decision seeks to make renewable energy more accessible to the masses.

Additionally, the service is proud to deliver 100% renewable energy plans with zero CO2 emissions. A stark contrast to the fact that approximately 40% of Japan’s carbon dioxide emissions come from energy sources. Hummingbird Power’s bold stance aims to combat this, contributing to the fight against global warming.

Furthermore, unlike major power companies that supply electricity from thermal power generation and thus incorporate a “fuel cost adjustment” to their electricity rates, Hummingbird Power, solely relying on renewable sources, eliminates such charges.

The new rate plan is expected to come into effect from the meter reading date after August 1, 2023.
