Collaborating with the Sharing Economy Association of Japan and 15 other sharing service providers, airCloset will be launching the “GO GREEN Project” to coincide with Green Friday.
Running from November 25 to 29, the GO GREEN Project brings together 15 sharing service companies to collectively highlight the benefits of the sharing economy. During this five-day event, participating companies will change their service logos to green and run social media campaigns encouraging the use of sharing services. The project supports Green Friday, which encourages the extended use of goods and responsible choices, opposing as an alternative to the consumer-driven frenzy of Black Friday.
The GO GREEN Projec is in its third year, and aligns with a global shift toward moving away from mass production and mass waste. According to the Sharing Economy Association, the use of space and goods sharing could potentially lower CO2 emissions by 4.45 million tons annually compared to the conventional ownership model.
For example, airCloset by renting clothing through ‘airCloset,’ users are estimated to cut their carbon emissions by 19% and reduce waste by 27%, compared to purchasing new clothes outright. Additionally, its ‘aircloset Mall’ service allows customers to rent furniture and appliances before deciding on a purchase, thereby avoiding unnecessary waste from buying items that do not meet their needs. airCloset has also achieved zero clothing waste in its operations.
airCloset aims to broaden awareness that sharing is a sustainable and sensible choice along with its partners, and hopes more will join them in the GO GREEN Project.
