CLAS, a provider of subscription-based furniture and appliance rental services, has partnered with the Japan Subscription Business Association to adopt the anti-fraud platform “SubsCield.” This platform addresses the ongoing challenges of fraud in the subscription industry by enabling businesses to identify and prevent fraudulent activities more effectively.
Fraud remains a significant obstacle for subscription services, often leading to financial losses through issues such as chargebacks. SubsCield offers a practical solution by detecting suspicious activities before they result in economic damage. By integrating this system, CLAS aims to protect its operations.
SubsCield is designed to tackle common fraudulent practices, including non-payment, theft of rental items, misuse of personal information, and credit card fraud. Non-payment involves customers failing to pay for services after the due date, while theft occurs when individuals retain rented items, such as furniture and appliances, without authorization. Misuse of personal information involves fraudsters exploiting someone else’s identity or financial details to place orders. Credit card fraud, often stemming from phishing scams or skimming, involves the unauthorized use of stolen card information to make purchases.
The platform’s core element is its shared “blacklist,” a database collaboratively maintained by participating companies. This database allows businesses to share and access information about fraudulent users, significantly enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of fraud detection. SubsCield streamlines the registration and sharing of data through API integration, making it easier for companies to respond quickly to potential threats.
CLAS’s subscription services are designed to adapt to changing lifestyles, and by embracing SubsCield, the company strengthens its security measures while ensuring responsible business practices and trust in the subscription sector.
